MISSION:             

It is the mission of the Child Advocacy Center of Carroll County to ensure justice through the provision of a coordinated system of care to children who are victims of sexual and/or physical abuse, neglect or maltreatment and their non-offending family members.

                                                                           

FOUNDATION:

The Child Advocacy Center of Carroll County is founded on the belief that every child has the right to grow and develop in a safe and supportive home and community environment. This foundation is facilitated by the development and successful utilization of a comprehensive multi-disciplinary, developmentally, and culturally appropriate response to child abuse, which is designed to meet the needs of children and their non-offending families in Carroll County.

 

STATISTICS:      

The U.S Department of Justice's Bureau of Statistics notes a 322% increase in child sexual abuse between 1980 and 1990.  In 2000 879,000 children were victims of child abuse with 10% of that number being child sexual abuse. In 2005 for a six-month period the New Hampshire Department of Children, Youth and Families - Conway District Office accepted 197 referrals for assessment of child abuse and neglect. From 2000 - 2004 the average number of accepted referrals was 257.
